Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Hotel Pounce ("Hotel Pounce," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects the personal information of people who use hotelpounce.com and our related products and communications (collectively, the "Services"). "Personally identifiable information" or "personal data" is information that identifies, relates to, or could reasonably be linked to you or your household.

By visiting our site, creating an account, or interacting with Hotel Pounce, you consent to the practices described below. Please read this policy carefully.

  • Subscribe to our newsletter, respond to a survey, or participate in marketing communications.
  • Use our site, mobile experiences, APIs, or customer support channels.

How We Protect Visitor Information

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to keep your personal information secure. Examples include security scanning, limited access to production systems, encrypted transmission via HTTPS/SSL, credential hashing, and separation of payment data via trusted gateway providers. We regularly review our security posture, but no method of storage or transmission over the internet is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

All sensitive transactions are processed through PCI-compliant payment vendors and are never stored on Hotel Pounce servers.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Hotel Pounce uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to remember preferences, authenticate sessions, and protect the Service. Our website usage analytics is cookieless and sets nothing on your device. We do not allow advertising or analytics partners to set cookies on hotelpounce.com.

You can choose to have your browser warn you each time a cookie is being sent or disable cookies entirely through your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies may limit certain features, but you will still be able to browse essential portions of the site.

Third-Party Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personally identifiable information to outside parties unless we provide advance notice. This does not include trusted website hosting partners, analytics providers, payment processors, and other vendors who help us operate Hotel Pounce, conduct our business, or service our users, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release information to comply with applicable law, enforce site policies, or protect our rights, property, or safety.

De-identified or aggregated visitor information may be shared with other parties for marketing, advertising, insights, or other lawful uses.

Third-Party Links

We may occasionally include links to third-party products or services on hotelpounce.com. These sites maintain independent privacy policies, so we are not responsible for their content or activities. We welcome feedback if any linked site raises concerns.

Website Analytics

Hotel Pounce measures website traffic with a self-hosted, cookieless analytics system (Umami) that runs on infrastructure we control. Analytics requests go to our own domain only: no analytics data is shared with Google, Meta, or any other advertising or analytics company, no cookies are set, and no cross-site profile is built. Visitor counts rely on a short-lived anonymized identifier that cannot be traced back to you.

In addition to page views, we count aggregate interaction events such as button clicks and feature usage (for example, that a search was performed or an alert was created). These events contain only generic category labels: they never include what you typed, searched for, or entered into any form.

If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, the analytics script does not load at all. Blocking it has no effect on site functionality.

California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA)

CalOPPA requires commercial websites to post a privacy policy. In accordance with CalOPPA:

  • Users can visit hotelpounce.com anonymously.
  • We link to this Privacy Policy from our homepage and other prominent pages.
  • The link includes the word "Privacy" and is easy to find.
  • We will notify users of any material changes on this page.
  • Registered users can view and update certain personal information by logging into their accounts.

Do Not Track & Behavioral Tracking

Hotel Pounce honors Do Not Track (DNT) signals where technically feasible. We do not plant cookies or serve advertising when a browser-based DNT mechanism is in place. We also do not permit third-party behavioral tracking on hotelpounce.com beyond the limited measurement tools described above.

Children's Privacy (COPPA)

We do not knowingly market to or collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. If you believe we have inadvertently received such information, please contact us so we can delete it promptly.

Fair Information Practices

We follow the Fair Information Practice Principles. Should a data breach occur, we will notify affected users via email within 7 business days (or sooner where required) and provide details on mitigation steps. We embrace the Individual Redress Principle, which ensures individuals have enforceable rights and recourse through regulators or courts if data processors fail to comply with privacy laws.

CAN-SPAM Act

We collect your email address in order to:

  • Send information, respond to inquiries, and address requests.
  • Process alerts, subscriptions, and updates related to orders.

To comply with CAN-SPAM, we agree to:

  • Avoid false or misleading subjects or email addresses.
  • Identify marketing messages as advertisements in a reasonable manner.
  • Include our valid physical mailing address in each commercial email.
  • Monitor third-party email marketing services for compliance.
  • Honor opt-out/unsubscribe requests promptly.
  • Provide a clear unsubscribe link at the bottom of each marketing email.

If at any time you would like to unsubscribe from receiving future emails, you can follow the instructions at the bottom of each email or contact us at howdy@hotelpounce.com, and we will promptly remove you from all non-essential correspondence.

Your Choices & Access Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we maintain about you. You can also request a copy of your data, object to certain processing, or withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Submit requests by emailing us at the address below, and we will respond consistent with applicable law.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes, we will post the revised policy on this page with an updated "Last updated" date and, when appropriate, provide additional notice.
